Dan's sculptures remind me of trees trapped in human bodies trying to remember what it was like to be a tree.
The next morning everyone packed up and headed off down the open road . . .
The concentration of woods, strung along the valley provides habitat for many species. Deer could be seen grazing just inside the tree line and coyotes could be heard howling in the night.
Friends and relatives gathered for what they thought would be a performance of a Pesky Thoughts Theater shadow puppet play. Instead the tables were turned and the audience was expected to get behind the stage and entertain. A good time was had by all.
The Ice Cave proved a bit daunting with just matches and the flash of my camera to light the way. Behind them is the way out. Notice that Jane kept her sunglasses on .

Next door, Doug Dawson is busy making a garden paradise. He gave us a tour and showed us a huge monolith he is trying to stand upright.
But the critters that impressed us the most were the lightning bugs, thousands of them blinking on a off above the prairie grasses like a second sky of stars.
Drive On The Edge 2001 Part Two
On our way home the Haynes Family stopped in Decorah to see Dunning's Falls and the Ice Cave.
Upon our return to Andrew and Dianne's place there was time to stroll through the forest.
